DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN EDUCATION

                              Abstract

 Digital transformation means it is the process of utilizing the new technology to create new environment which is going to face the new challenging world. The world is becoming more computerized. “Survival of the fittest” is the phrase which is originated from Darwinian evolutionary theory which suits the environment as a whole. The digital transformation in education helps everybody to learn many things at one point of time. It is the new era of learning and evolution of education changes from time to time. There are so many pros and cons in digital education which we are going to see in the upcoming points. E-Learning is the best and newest way. There are so many learning hubs which teaches the students to the futuristic way which helps them to deal the problems in the future. There is the huge amount of knowledge which gives pressures to the students. How far the technology rises the connection between the students reduces.

There are so many facilities like Internet, social media, learning hubs which gives huge amount of information to everybody. “Information is wealth.” Is the phrase which is a classic and does not suit the modern period because information is available everywhere and it is with everybody who is utilizing the information in the right way at a right time and at right place will succeed in the future. The real world is more competitive and without the appropriate knowledge nobody is going to sustain in the environment. Today’s modern era the children has a huge amount of knowledge compared to the person who is twenty years elder than him. The upcoming generations are going to be very talented in all means. In earlier times, the education is not up to the level to face the real world and from earlier to now the education level has been drastically changed and it has been improved in every aspect. There are so many positives in the digital education but there are some negatives around digital education. The existing education gives pressure to the students and they are in the hands of phone and laptops which will destroy them physically and mentally. They are not exposed to the real world. Online teaching creates a gap between students and teachers, so teachers doesn’t know about the student and they don’t know in which field they have to improve. This generation students do not know the world beyond 5 inches (phone). They get so many health issues like obesity, eye problems, body pains etc. They don’t play outside and indulged in the phone and laptops for long hours. Depending more on computer doesn’t make the students think.

Education is the essential element which is a necessity in everybody’s life like water, food, shelter etc. From time to time, education may evolve but the main element of education did not change. From earlier times to modern times the education is thought by the teachers. A person who doesn’t have knowledge can survive in the world but who has a knowledge can create a world.

Digital transformation – technology is the common word in today’s era and there is a lot of technological improvements in different fields which has improved drastically within 5 years. There are technological improvements in the fields of marketing, services, accounting, etc. For example, sales which is done in the shops are now done through online shopping like AMAZON, FLIPKART, MEESHO , selling of foods which is done in the hotels are now having door delivery services like SWIGGY, ZOMATO etc… Likewise, there are so many improvement in the fields of education which gives qualitative education to the students. There is easy access of every books in their hands. Mobile phones, tablets, laptops etc. Helps everybody to get knowledge at their own comfort zone. Utilization of proper resources in the right way helps the students to develop their own strengths.

  Is giving online education is digital education? Using the existing technology to educate students is meant by digital transformation? Let us see about what is digital transformation in education. Digital transformation in education means it is the way of changing the quality of education through means of technology. Technological development can been seen in various forms and it evolves and continuously changing from time to time. There must be improvements in people minds also. If people did not change according to the environment and not adopting the new technology in the fields of education might not be in the field for longer periods.

EVOLUTION OF EDUCATION

Evolution is the process of developing from the past and changing the lifestyles. Evolution starts when people in olden days starts to develop themselves. Moreover, Education has also evolved from stages to stages. There are different stages in the process of evolution of education.

STAGE I: In past, education is not properly given to everybody. There are only few who succeeded. Only higher caste people get education and there were so many caste barriers. They don’t send girls to the schools as because of gender barrier. Education is not a necessary element in the past. Means of livelihood is very minimum and they spend their entire amount to their food and shelter. So, Education is not necessary, but also the quality of education is not good. If people likes to get educated, there won’t be any proper facilities to study like lamps, proper study materials, even books. Even though there are so many literatures which was written by the poets are the important tool to educate everybody and we are using it and which is not easily accessible at that time period.

STAGE II: In this stage, Education become a necessary but not for all. Only rich studies and become more richer. Some of the poor people are educating their children. They don’t have any proper staffs, books etc. There are not much burden on the students and they don’t have huge amount of syllabus and span of knowledge is very low.

STAGE III: All things had changed upside down, Education is know the necessity and important element in day to day life of the people and without education people don’t accept anybody. The education has changed to that extent in which technology plays a key role. There are so many e-books, audios, videos smart boards and practical knowledge. The Google is the main solution of every problems and everybody has it in their fingertips. All these technologies aids education in better and best way.

STAGE IV: The future is going to be extremely different. Many new technologies going to emerge like robot teachers and more amount of practical knowledge. Every students have freedom in obtaining knowledge and they are very clear about what they want to do. Future is going to be something different.

What we have and how we utilize it: Information is everywhere and it is with everybody. How we utilize it is the main view point

We have a priceless things in our hands that is mobile phones, laptops, smart boards, e-books, tutorial apps like BYJU’S, VEDANTU, WHITE HAT JR, which teaches about artificial intelligence, cyber security, cloud computing, block chain and social media. All these provide and gives bulk amount of knowledge. Social media itself is the best way to learn knowledge. We can easily access any books related to any fields easily. We can just download the book and start reading through mobiles or we can download e- audible in which we can access any books through audios and we can hear any book at any time and gain lots of knowledge. There are so many apps like zoom, Google meet which gives online education to the students at their own comfortable level.

Many countries developed its own education to next level. Japan is the number one country in using the modern technology. Their modern technology uses artificial intelligence and creates modern technology. India is in the first step of learning about artificial intelligence.

How we utilize it:

Many people utilize the resources in best way but some utilize it in the wrong way. There are so many information but we have to choose the best among them to develop our strength. Moreover we have to learn about utilizing the resources in the efficient and effective way. But some students don’t utilize all these resources and they waste their time. They are utilizing all these technologies in their own and bad way. Social media- technology is both good and evil. So we have use it in the proper way.

ONLINE EDUCATION IN COVID SITUATION:

There are hard times which the entire world become so pathetic. There were no ideas about the pandemic situation and entire world just went to the lockdown. Every business were shut downed, schools colleges were closed and there were downfall in the entire economy of the world. At that times, all the process were very new to everybody and moreover online classes are the toughest part in student’s life. It was very new to everybody and it has so many advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages of online studies:

1. Students are at their own comfort zone to study and learn

2. It is so flexible

3. We are in the safe hands of our parents

Disadvantages of online studies:

1. It is not easily accessible. The apps doesn’t support many times

2. We can’t talk to teachers or listen classes face to face

3. Students get lots of health issues like eye pain, body pain in the online classes

Digital transformation on education has so many advantages and disadvantages. They are

1. More amount of knowledge and easily accessible: There is the access of more amount of knowledge as because internet has so many information which is like an ocean. It is easily accessible by everybody. Who doesn’t know English can also use today’s modern technology because the technology is available in their own language.

2. Everything is in our fingertips and it is available at every point of time: We can download all the videos, audios and access every knowledge at one place. There are so many options to see and gain knowledge like YOUTUBE, GOOGLE, BROWSER, MICROSOFT, gives the enthusiasm to learn.

3. Today’s teaching is more playful: The teachers teaches the best way by using phones , tablets, smart boards, videos, and moreover they are teaching us using English songs because by hearing English songs we can easily learn English. Listening, learning, writing, speaking etc…can been done when we like the class and all these technology aids each and every students to learn and become individuals with lots of knowledge. This method of teaching make students individually perform in the activities and their individuality is assessed and teachers strengthen their own abilities. Everybody likes fun and if education is done in fun way, the students are very energetic in the class.

4. Technological education teaches etiquette: The technology grows further and further. We learn what is good and what is bad in small ages and we act accordingly. Each and every students are learning good manners and applying it in the real world. Technological development is not only the usage of modern apps, social media but also it depends on people minds. How they adopt to the technology, how they use it. Development should start from our minds.

5. Self- learning, self- teaching and self- assessing: In today’s world self- learning is the best way, we can learn through our smart devices. Self- assessing means we can assess ourselves through online test, mock test and we can judge ourselves, we can also find our strengths and weaknesses. Self- teaching means it is like seminars in class, presentation, speech through PPT, PDF etc… in which we teaches others through technology and develops them. Development is not only development of us but also the development of others

6. Practical knowledge: They are giving more practical knowledge compared to theoretical knowledge. There are computer labs, 3d world, NASA space station in which we can learn new and many things.

7. Technology can be accessed for physically challenged students: there are mobile phones like RAZ mini version2, etc… are used for physically challenged people in which they can easily access the knowledge.

Disadvantages of digital technology in education

1. Continuous usage causes damage: continuously seeing the phones, laptops, smart boards will cause damage to the eyes, creates body pains etc… which may cause severe health problems and continuously sitting for long hours makes uncomfortable and easily we get neck pain, hand pain, leg pain.

2. Student gets laziness: everything is accessible in single hands makes the students lazy and they don’t depend on their minds and always rely on the cellphones.

3. Students gets afraid: Some students are afraid of internet even though they access only educational related queries because of the dark web, hacking, spam calls, malpractices through phones can easily affect students mentally and it makes students stay away from it. So they can’t access the knowledge.

4. Students can’t afford these facilities: students who are poor can able to buy laptops, mobile phones, etc… are lacking confidence on themselves.

5. Students who are unaware about the existing technology: students who are living in the mountain areas doesn’t know about the technology and they always follow the same old method of education.

6. The world is more competitive and opportunities are very less: The students face the challenges because there are so many peoples who are talented and doesn’t get any jobs.

OBJECTIVES OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN EDUCATION

1. To develop the students in the best way because students are the tomorrows nation so making them more talented helps themselves and the nation in the best way

2. They are developed more because the real competitive is going to so difficult and when they are going to foreign countries for jobs our students should be equally talented to compete that students.

3. Young ages have fresh thoughts and utilizing the talents they can reach heights.

4. Without good and proper education students can’t survive in the society.

5. Everybody is the world are not born with talents but developing the talents is the good way to achieve the goal of the life.

There are so many apps and software which develop the world technologically stronger. The apps can used for the development of our skills. They are GOOGLE, YOUTUBE, BROWSER, WORD DOCUMENT, POWER POINT PRENSENTATION, AMAZON KINDLE, AUDIBLE, E-LEARNING, etc…all these apps are used to develop the skills and talents within us.

EDUCATION HAS VARITIES:

Education doesn’t mean to study but also there are some fine arts like dancing, singing etc… are fine arts which also needs certain educational qualification but nowadays there are so many videos which teaches these fine arts in online. So education is not meant for reading what is in the books but developing our own skills and strengths through digital platforms.

The world is changing into the digital technology and we have to adopt it and it is applicable in the fields of the education in which we have to adopt to changes and develop the skills through digital technology.

CONCLUSION

Education is the primary necessity of our life and moreover it is the life changing source which will decide the future of the student. Education is the only tool to change you and your surroundings. So technology development is the changing environment in which we have to adopt to the changing environment.
